Hi Mino,
Where do you go for Blue Crabs? And do you use one of those star shaped crab traps or how do you catch them?
Thanks, Squidheads
hey squidhead... i go to the 10 mile river that runs through seekonk... it's really fun... basically all you need is some fishing line or thin rope, some chicken wings / drumsticks and a big diameter fish net... tie the chicken wing to one end of the rope and the other to a stick and stick in the ground or tie it off to the tall grass... toss the chicken in the water, not far, maybe about 5 - 10 ft away from you and sit back... watch the line move and you know you have a crab... slowly pull the line in towards you, be careful that the crab does not see you and once it gets close to you, scoop it up with a net <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> just remember do not lift the chicken too high out of the water or the crab will let go... make sure the net is in the water and is underneath and a little back behind the crab... if the crab lets go and swims backwards it will swim right into the net... i always find that the best time is in the morning or evening with an in coming tide... action dies out about 10 am or so get there early about 6 am or so <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rod:' /> last time i went by myself i caught about 30+... average catch is about 15-20 crabs... btw... massachusetts regulation is 4 1/2" from spike to spike...
if anyone knows where else is a hot spot please let me know <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
