Nicely put, busterblue. You sound more like a real Sensei than that arrogant SOB.
Since people are asking, I will add a few points that I have heard from my east coast customers.
We have the largest selection of squid jigs available anywhere in the USA, everybody likes something different, so we manufacture a large selection of jigs from very tiny, to very large.
From my customers last year, they had said that the really small jigs (Size 1.0 "Micro-Prawn, Prawn SS 2008, and Pearl Prawn") worked very well when fishing was slow when they would get squid when others weren't. Some others really liked some of the weighted jigs, and would often use those on the bottom to weight down their jigs, often they only got squid on the bottom weighted jigs (about 1oz size "Tiny Teasers, Squid Bomb, Bullet Head, Rainbow Jigs, Squid Dart").
For technique, I like a fast jerk up about 2', and then lowering very slowly, the squid usually hit on the way down, or when the jig is motionless.
Hope that helps someone a little.
Jon
