I thought that was you, My daughter and I were driving over the bridge as you were setting up around 8pm. I hope your right with the water temp.
That was us at 8pm. We drifted around Quonset Pier and the military airport. Two big military cargo planes put on quite a show for us as they took off together. We didn't get a bite so after two hours went down to the bridge and drifted around there until we set up near that little lighthouse. did you catch all the lights we had? My buddy brought a 2KW Honda generator. It ran 4 sets of lights that we had in the 4 rod holders. He jerryrigged pole attachments for them. We also had under water lights going. There were so many sand eels hanging in the lighted water but not a single squid. It was very depressing. It was a gorgeous night which was the only good thing about it. If it doesn't happen in another week I don't think it will. May 6th was always the magic number for me. I have friends that are commercial rod and reel fluke guys that will be fishing 4 straight days out of Pt. Judith. They'll know if the squid are attacking their fluke baits heavily. If that is the case, I'll make a run on the beaches for a combo fluke and squid trip. Like everyone else on this forum, I need bait for offshore fishing, some food for the freezer and local squid for the fluke season. If you really get hard up you can go down to Champlain's fish market in Galalee (across from Georges 2 at the end of the street). They buy the squid from the local draggers, fresh off the boat and will sell you quantity (25lbs) very reasonably. Last year I think we paid around $1.25-$1.50. We got skunked last year too. Later eatfish.
