Hi JP,
Since you did squid fishing last October, maybe you can share some of your experience.
I share mine. I only did once squid fishing in Fall couple years ago while I did Spring squid quite some time now. What I observed is - in Spring squid seldom come up to surface, usually down near bottom, and if they do surface, only couple of them swim by. But in Fall (my 2 day experience) squid come up to surface in a large school (30-40 squids). My only Fall squid experience was an accidental trip that I went out to a local pier (Western Sound) at midnight to snap bunker, and to my surprise saw a large school of squid right under the pier light. No jig, I just dropped the treble snag into the school and snagged maybe half a bucket for 2 hours of time. Went out to the same place next night, the school came back with maybe 1/3 number (10-20) and spooky. Only snag couple then the school was gone. Didn't try jig in Fall. So in my opnion, Fall could be the better time since they are schooling at surface and feeding.
