Newport Squid Season T-SHIRT 2008
#1
Hey Newport tentacle wrestlers,

You may remember me from last year, I was the guy who wheeled his gear on a fat-wheeled, red radio flyer wagon (along with the kid sometimes)

I was thinking of printing up some t-shirts with some faux squid ink spots, a demographic cross section of some squiders and maybe a tentacle coming from the deep grabbing someone off the causeway.

I'd work on the artwork and try to have something by the time the squid show, if I knew there was some interest.

It is more for fun so I'd keep it as close to at cost as possible.

let me know if there is interest, and I will follow up.

I'd probably need a couple dozen people to make it worth while.

I go my lures last weekend at the NE show in Providence, thanks to the heads up on squidfish.net, and am freezing up some nice blocks of salty water 3.5% salt is the same as ocean water pretty much, in an attempt to keeep the squiod fresh.

Look foward to seeing you inked.

I think it’s a great idea. In the competition thread we have talked about making Newport squiding more of an official event. The t-shirts would tie-in well. Do you make the shirts or do you have someone do it for you? I also like the sound of “Squid Fest". Just an idea, since there are people from all around the world down here fishing. I think it would be neat to spell “squid” in all the different languages (English, Portuguese Chinese, Japanese, etc.). It would represent the diversity of our squiding community. Any thoughts?

You may want to re-title your post to something like “Newport T-shirt idea” so people don’t confuse it with the main one.

I would be up for a Goat Island T shirt. I know my 5 yr old would be as well.

Me and my buddies have been driving down from Vermont for ten years now to the bridge.

We will go for a couple of tee shirts too.

We'll be down the first week of May. Just need to know how to hook up.

Thanks

I am going to do my best to make this happen, but due to poor response, I am going to have a hard time justifying silk screening.

If it happens, I'll be wearing a shirt that basically will have in it Squidfest 2008 with some basic graphics depicting the scene.

If anyone else gets one I am sure they will steer you towards me.

I normally move my gear on a red radio flyer wagon.

Unless by doing so last year, I have started a trend, I'll probably be the only one there with such a cart.

In order to keep the cost down, I was looking at black graphic on white tee. This way the real squid ink stains will show up better.

I wanted to go with some cool color graphics, but without a big response, it will probably end up hitting the investors wallet too hard.

This will be my third year and hopefully the idiots that leave the place a mess stay home.

It would be a shame if they made it illegal to fish off the causeway.
