Hello All
I found this site and registered a couple of years ago and I've still yet to actually try and catch a squid. I caught on on a bucktail jig once while fluke fishing and that's about it. I was wondering if anyone knows of fishing oppurtunities in the Napatree / Stonington area? I have a small 17 foot center console and I'm fairly familiar with the area. I hear there is a fishery in the Newport Jamestown area but I'm totally unfamiliar with locations, techniques, and timing of the squid run. Any help would be appreciated because this spring I'm at least going to give it the old college try.

Not sure if you are from the east coast or what the way the post came into my email.
If you are in the North East, and have a boat, I would be happy to take you right to the spot if you would be willing to have me aboard. I'll even pitch in gas and beer.

any of the southern RI beaches in may will work for sure.
if you dont mind hauling your boat to newport i feel it will give you more productive options. just about anywhere from north kingstown to newport in the bay will get you squid.
keep and eye on the newport thread too

Anyone watching this forum for 2012? I've got to believe there are squid out there along the Connecticut shoreline, but there has not been much written about it.

drciro kingsquid and rusty morr i didn't make it out in 2011, but it's a new year. I have a small boat 17 foot and electronics. very familiar with area around stonington harbor and would love to try and catch a few of these. plan is to wait till folks start reporting decent catches and then to give it a whirl. what do you look for, temps in the mid 50s? I don't have much for lights but i have one of those floating headlight type things.
