The squid fishing in Redondo and Des Moines are in full swing, if you're not getting your limit by this time which is about 10 lbs I don't know what to tell you except to be faster with your fishing pole. Got my limit last night even when it was low tide. Good jigging lol

I will be down to Redondo or DesMoines tonight to check things out. Fished for squid last year a couple of times but did not do that well. Will check it out this year.

There have been squid in redondo at least the last month... they ARE small though.... We have some specialty "extra tiny" squid jigs that the Summer Squid bite on very well..... I don't have them on the website right now, as I've been swamped, but just ask and I can help out....



I'm "planning" on going donw there this next weekend "time permitting", as the tiny squid are tender and delicious......

I took my children to DesMoines peir and we fished for Herring, about 2 hours in to fishing my son yelled, Dad!!! look at this... what are those? They were squid hitting his herring jig, I quickly rigged a squid jig and My son caught 6 squid in 5 minutes then they were gone. those were the first he and I have ever seen, we took them home, I cleaned them and fried them up and they were great. I hope to mee

t some of you guys at the peir this year, My 3 kids ABSOLUTELY love fishing at 1 in the morning at that peir so we will make a few trips there I am sure, but it is a 45 minute car ride so...

Squid are in PS YEAR ROUND! Winter is Prime time in WA as some squid also migrate into the area. The days are also very short and the squid like little light. The is pulls them from the deep seas up toward the piers.



If you are ever in the Bremeton, Port Orchard, Kingston area let me know. We are frequently out at the piers and can dial you into the action.. Squid fishing is a great sport!

The best reports that I have been hearing recently (last week) was downtown Seattle (Pier 56 was pretty hot). I've been down to Redondo a few times recently, but seems that it has slowed down there.

I spent some time at Redondo Friday evening 4pm until about 8pm...caught one summer squid...slow.

If you don't mind making a longer drive, I have heard that the Shilshole Bay Marina in Ballard has been very good. I've been to redondo a few times, and have not had luck lately as well.

Have been down to jig at Redondo twice this week.



First was Tuesday night, nobody else jigging, no activity.



Then last night, Thursday, there were plenty of small, summer squid. Reports that 6am jigging was *very* successful, but I wasn't there myself. Jigged from about 5pm-12:30. Either my wrist action and jigs aren't what they're looking for, but I enjoyed myself and came home with enough for dinner for 2 (and 5 rock crab). Others on pier were doing either better or worse than me... no seeming pattern. Floodlights after dark didn't seem to help the catch any, but oh boy was it fun to see all the squid swimming around down there! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Lots of herring, too. (All the Dungeness I saw caught, and there were some BIG ones, were all female, of course.)



Going down there again this afternoon. Well! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Reports of Fri morning jigging were that the guys were catching their limit easily between 6-8am.



Friday night was slow, but then again... as the only white female on the dock from about 4pm until *late* (I got home at 2am) and it being Friday night with Salty's right next door, I ended up spending the majority of my afternoon talking about jigging and fishing to tourists and people wandering over after dinner at Salty's. I dunno why people won't approach the guys, but I always get stuck as the Dock Teacher. *laughing* I had fun, though, overall, and didn't mind not catching much. Had lots of younger newcomer jiggers, and they always need lots of help.



After we took the boys home at around midnight, we went back down to clean the crabs, and - of course! - it turned out that the squid showed up just after we left. They weren't really biting that much, but the schools were so large and easily seen in the lighted water that people were just aiming just past the squid and snagging them back in. There were two guys with a large 30 gallon Rubbermaid that they dumping their catch into that was... well, there were a LOT of squid in there. One of them dumped about 30 of them into my little bucket, so I was pretty happy. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



As for the squid, they were a bit larger the closer we got to the weekend, but they're generally still about 4-5 inch bodies and only going for the smallish jigs, especially those cylindrical Korean ones (which, of course, I don't have, and my nephew hooked and lost the last of my small Martinetti's on that submerged cable). They're going for pale colors and whites.



Still no dungeness other than females, but plenty of rock crabs. We've been getting about 5 a day.



So, based on the early morning reports we got out there at 6am this morning to join the regular gang. Of course, though, for whatever reason the squid decided not to be as cooperative as reported on other mornings. It figures. But we left the dock at 10:30 with enough for dinner for two again, and it was a beautiful morning all the same. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



The guy at Colman's Fishing (Jon's his name, yes?) is outta town for the weekend and so I've gotta wait until the week to get myself some new small jigs. But regardless of how many we catch, I always have fun and the regulars down there are nice guys once they get used to you. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> They can never remember my name, so I'm always just "hey, lady!" *grin*



We'll be out again this week, and we're thinking of coming up to Edmonds to try our luck at some salmon.

After a bit of hit and miss searching at various Federal Way Asian grocery stores, I finally found at least one place where some of the regulars at Redondo have been getting their reportedly-Korean jigs. I went into the Pal-Do International Market today (2200 S. 320th St., Federal Way; 253-941-8282 according to [url="http://dwb.thenewstribune.com/soundlife/food/story/6046841p-5306727c.html)"]http://dwb.thenewstribune.com/soundlife/fo...-5306727c.html)[/url] for the first time and after picking up my regular grocery items went to the check stand. I asked the checker if they had squid jigs -- "...fishing! Squid!" *fishing gestures* -- and she brought out two trays of home made jigs. The larger ones were $5.99 and the smaller $4.99. It was the small ones I was aiming for, in pale colors and cylinders and long ovoids.



So anyhow, I found 'em. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I haven't tried them out yet, but they're the same ones the guys at Redondo have been using with much better success than the rest of us who don't have them. The jigs are obviously home made and not nearly as pretty and sleek as Martinettis, but hey, whatever gets those squid outta the water and onto my line is fine with me.

Spent about 1 hour at Redondo last night with some friends and didn't get a single hit. There was a guy out there before us and he left shortly after we arrived. Seems he'd been out there for an hour and he had a light set up but no luck either.



Ended up in Seattle afterwards and tried the pier (big one) with no luck...bad night.



I used the coleman brand led jigs and the teasers.



If the squidjig guy is here, do you still sell the jigs out of your garage? I'd much rather pick them up direct than have to buy them at GI. Joes. Let me know if that's still possible.
