What The?
#1
we allways go fishing out on the water off indented head. catching flatheads like crazy.

one time i had just reefed one when in got a huge tow, like i had foul hooked it, but when we finally got the damn thing up there was a big arrow head on it. which had taken the biggest bite and killed the flathead. so we netted them and kept them both.

Other times we have been getting octopus grabbing onto our sinkers....

pretty crazy

moley,

arrows are vicious... i have had a live arrow out under a balloon when shark fishing only to find it dead with another arrow latched onto it and taking bites! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />

aok47,

thats pretty cool,

one time when i was in tassie i was reeling in a flatty and just as in was coming up to the surface a big gummy shark came up to take a bite out of it, but got scared by the surface. The next cast i got the gummy.

Thats what i love about fishing... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Hi Moley and welcome to Squidfish

Ive had many expirences with squid chasing hooked fish especialy Garfish and whiting. It awesome seeing a squid chase and grab a fish that you have just reeled in and a few times Ive been able to land both fish and squid, other times Ive dropped a jig in the water after spotting the squid and BANG they dont waste anytime latching on to the jig.One time I was reeling in a small gar and three squid had chased it in I stopped reeling hoping that one of the squid would get hooked but my hopes soon faded as the squid ripped the gar of the hook and ripped it to peices, but I got my revenge when I threw a lure in the water and bagged out in about 20 minutes the water was full of them and I think that Garfish picked the wrong place to be

Mate I think you need to change where your fishing too.

While St Leonards does fire up on the squid on occasion, Queenscliff is where you want to be.

This weeks forcast is for unsettled weather and a high tide approaching late evening to late night at the heads along with light winds will make conditions perfect for this area.

The bight at Queenscliff/ Point lonsdale should fish very well by boat both morning and evening this week if you can get out that way Blue or pink Lures or jigs baited with Bluebait Salted pilchards or grass whiting will produce the goods.

The school holidays are finished and I will be giving the peirs a good going over this week and will post my report as soon as I get back
