Hello
I had a question about eating squid and after finding your site I thought you might be the best people to ask.
In the book I am currently reading (The Beach by Alex Garland - The LeoD movie) some of the characters get ill (very ill) after eating some squid.
There is discussion in the book that because the squid was already dead before it was 'killed'/caught by the fisherman that this is why they are ill.
Is this true? Is it because the squid goes rotten in the sea after it died but before being caught - and if this was the case would it not smell 'off' to the cook before he put it in the stew? Or is there a specific way of killing and/or storing squid so that it is safe to eat?
I know it sounds like a daft question - but I was just curous as it had made me wonder.
Thanks in advance!
