Question for all the PIER fisho's, do you have more luck if you move around the pier all night, OR stay in the same spot? I seem have more luck if I move around the pier from pylon to pylon ,,,,,, Pete.

I dont move - i have my fav spots on some jetties - if its a big one, i might move around a bit...........depends on if im catching them as well!!
SA - the land of the bigger fish. The fish on the east, measure the least, but if you head west, you'll be bringing in the best!!

Moving around makes a bit of sense, although my opinion, is it depends on the direction of the tide. I think the squid tend to be attracted to the piers, especially at night, looking for small fish to eat. But my opinion is to fish on the downcurrent side especially with a faster current, as many times I've noticed when there is current the bait fish and squid will be on the down current side.

With a slower current I've generally seen them more under the pier, or up-current, perhaps waiting for bait to come towards them.

If there is a spot where more light hits the water, that's where I would concentrate my efforts, as they are attracted to light.

I tend to stay in one place. I will sometimes move if I notice the squid schooling and moving in the area. I also "troll" my jigs out in different directions to attract the squid to my area. This is very effective. Once I catch or see the squid, I will focus on the specific depth. If I can get teh squid to follow my jigs, more often then not I can catch them on my Juicy Jigs™ Squid Jigs. That is the most exciting way to catch the squid (at least for me <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Hope the info helps. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
