Newport Ri 2015 Squid Season
Just got to GI and caught two, snagged another two in a large school. Only a few of us on the bridge at the moment.
Just got home. Have about 30 in the bucket. The Yo Zuri mini in pink seemed to be the best, but it fished better on a slow fall. I believe SAMs and Luckys has them. Hopefully it will only get better!!!
Thanks

Nice, can't wait to start hooking up squids. Thanks for the post. I'll be there later on.
Squid war just beggin! lol 😄
JT was a little on the slow side last night. Besides the splashing and squirting at the surface, not many were actually caught.
If Newport have not break yet, you guys should go to Hyannis still plenty for the picking.

One day in Hyannis satisfied my quota for the year.

Look at all these boats out there.

Are thet catching at the docks too?or just out in boats
Sorry, don't know the answer to that.

Have not fish at dock for a long time.

Boat is the way to go, you can chase them from RI to MA.

There are people out there that fish strictly from shore and dock and they are very knowledgeable in all "fishable" docks and shores locations.
fwiw, the frances fleet reported light action, but that is better than none, off the beaches last night.  They are on the move.  I'd guess any day for newport if they are picking away at them on the beaches.  Hopefully the storms won't muck things up too badly.

Any body caught any squid last night from Goat Island ?

I was at GI last night at 1230. There were alot of people fishing on the bridge and wall. Was there about an hour and half and saw about 50 squid total get pulled up. Pretty small with a few decent size. Going back today to hopefully catch a bucket full.
Went to JT last night for a couple hours..... Didn't catch or see any.

Few other people said the same.

caught 2 dozens from 8 to 11 pm last night.
Caught 2 dozens from 8 to 11 pm in goat island last night.
Went squidding in Bristol last night finally seen a few .was able to snag a few and they disappeared never to return.another fellow fishermen showed up saying gi was banging last night.he said his buddies were nailing squid according to the phone call he received but u gotta get there early.hopefully there heading south
Was at goat island Saturday night and we were banging squid for about a solid half an hour. None after that. At least where I was standing
My sister said her friend claimed that he and his buddies got a half buckets each at GI. Not sure if I believe that since I did not hear directly from the source and no proof. We went to james town and between 5 of us we got about 90 squids (3/4) buckets. There were tons of people and thus lights so we did not see many squids in our zone until most of the people left.
I didn't see any half buckets on the causeway but I did see a lot of 1/4 buckets. Caught 35 myself at the bottom of the bridge before** midnight
You guys have it made in the shade living in RI. I plan to come up from Norwalk CT again next weekend. Hopefully then the squid will be hitting instead of just gliding by my jig. I got 3 on Friday night, but if I caught as many as I saw, I would easily have filled 3/4 bucket. I have a feeling that their bellies are full of small bait fish, which is why they aren't striking aggressively. Hope to hear more positive squidding stories from everyone in the upcoming days!
Still not much to report in Bristol but I'm thinking any day now since they are being seen in good numbers in Newport.
