Recommended squid fishing spots

Name: Rapid Bay jettyRegion/State: South Australia

Country: Australia

Nearest major town: Victor Harbour

Short description of the fishing opportunities available

This is a very popular squid fishing jetty on the South Coast of South Australia. Although more than 50% of the jetty is now closed to the public, the remaining area is well worth a look for squid - mainly medium sized ones. The jetty also holds garfish, tommies, some massive kingfish, amoungst others

Name: Second Valley JettyRegion/State: South Australia

Country: Australia

Nearest major town: Victor Harbour

Probably the most used jetty in the area these days. Some great looking weed patches which can really turn on the squid on its day, but the quiet days, and really quiet days. Some monster squid to 2kg can be taken. Flathead, gar, mullet and tommies are also taken occasionally........

Name: Wirrina Cove (now called Sunset Cove)Region/State: South Australia

Country: Australia

Nearest major town: Victor Harbour

Fishing from the breakwater at the marina can produce bag limits of squid, for those prepared to put in the time, although the swell can really pound the rocks, in all but the calmest conditions. Whiting, gar, tommies, occasional kingfish, bronze whaler sharks and even snapper after rough periods are other species caught from here.........The boat fishing can also be good with snook, whiting, snapper and squid the most sought after species.....
SA - the land of the bigger fish. The fish on the east, measure the least, but if you head west, you'll be bringing in the best!!
