Mmmm, neoprene socks sound warm.........
Not sure if I'll go again tonight, conditions look OK though. Still plenty of huge mullet and a few gars about, it will be interesting to see if they stay throughout winter.

I speared another 2 flounder last night, it was pretty quiet though, except that a big gar jumped in my float, then jumped out again!

must have been freezing last night! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' /> i thought about going but the wind was supposed to be westerly (i.e. SW or NW) so i thought it might be a little too wavey.

i bought a spare hawaiin sling on the weekend from Cranbourne tackle...only $30!!!...it was Neptune Tackle brand. Comes in 2 pieces with a thread in the middle. Cheapest one I have seen so far. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />

That's a great price for a sling, good buy! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />
Unfortunately I won't be floundering for a while, went skiing Monday and Tuesday this week, and I hurt my knee in a huge and ugly crash <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' /> which was filmed by a mate! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />
Maybe you could include a stupid members video section on the site Glen?

yeah i think neptune also make squid jigs and jags. i will let u know if the spear is any good.
jaz - surely u could rig up some float/dingy so u could drift through the shallows and spear flounder from the comfort of a chair on deck? so you have no excuse! lol <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' /> get well. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/beer_mug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />

Haha, I love the chair idea! Pat, you'll love it, Buller is gorgeous at the moment, but a bit icy in places (hence my stack). Thanks for the concern guys, I should be ok in a week or so, fingers crossed.
I caught most of my thumper squid last summer on neptune baited jags, worked fine.

Flounder assassin? More like flounder addict...... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />
You flatter me AK, it's only because I go floundering so damn much that I spear a few. I'm lucky to live very close to the beach (walking distance), so it's not a big hassle to go regularly. And you guys don't hear about all the nights when I walk for hours and spear nothing!
Knee feels much better today, but there is a disconcerting clicking sound whenever I bend it, hope I haven't strained my floundering muscle <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />
Jaz
PS Weather looks fab for a flounder the next few days, so if anyone is thinking about it, GET OUT THERE NOW!!

Salt water may be, but i dont think the walking will do it much good - especially the pressure of the water, and the weight that it takes to walk.....
Trust me, i hurt my ankle one day playing footy, and had a trip down to the surf salmon fishing planned for that night. Well, stupid old me decided that it was worth it, and went, waders and all. To cut the story short, we caught stuff all, my ankle gave me so much pain for days, and i missed 4 weeks of footy, instead of what should've been 2-3........ <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />

And let me guess..........you didnt win the premiership that year either??
That would be bad luck............
I did my ankle nearing finals, hence another reason for a longer lay off than normal!! And we got belted in a couple of finals - semi's and prelim......oh well!! THIS YEAR WILL BE DIFFERENT!! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />
