Abalone Shell Sticker

Hi All,



After reading the topic that was started by Glen : Scent that attract squid,

i want to share this method with everyone. I use a small piece of abalone shell

sticker and stick it to the back of my squid jig. The guy at the tackle shop told me the reason why.

When squid grab the jig and bite with their teeth, they will feel the roughness on

the abalone shell sticker. They tend to hold on real tight to the jig and won't

let go easily making it easy for setting hook. even if there miss, the squid tend to

strike again.



The japanese design this sticker base on the feeding habit of squid. They believe

that the squid feed on crustacean and that's why the squid hold on tight to the jig.

This stickers are made from real abalone shell after some reprocess

Old thread but I got a question about colour. There are so many colours available for the sticker sheet, so which is the most attacked by squid?

SquidHearts hasn't been on since 2010.

 

The best and most rewarding thing to do is buy a variety. There may be one that does get attacked more than others, but it is not going to be the best in every spot that holds squid.

Apologies, has not been doing much eging for the past few years. Only got back into business after knowing a few friends who r crazy over eging recently. Color wise I'm not sure. But I have friends who swear that the darker color one got the most hits. Those New Zealand Paua abalone shell color.

I want to try these but I'm unsure whether to go with pearl or green.

Yeah, why not experiment with both n share with us the result. Another write up said that the diamond shape abalone sticker near the tail of the egi resemble the bite mark on a shrimp by another squid which means its an easy prey. As long as it improves the hit rate, we dont really care about the reason behind it.
