I'm guessing that no one ran to Salem for the squid reported there?
Now I hear some squid have moved into the pond in Pt Judith.
I haven't given up yet, need to test all the new jigs I got. Maybe
going to take a ride down this week and see if I can get sum.

I'm in Jamestown right now waiting for sunrise for fluke. I'm surprised people are still trying for squid here. I don't see anyone catching though.

Tried around the docks while still dark Sun morning at Pt Judith. Snapper blues were all
over my jig but not a single squid was spotted or caught.
Trying for Tues night at east end of canal as the tide and darkness should align.
On another note fluke and sea bass remain constant off the beaches of Pt Judith.

Fished the east end of the Cape Cod Canal last night from 11:30pm till 2am this morning.
Hight tide was at 1:25am and there was a good NE wind blowing lots of eel grass into
the canal. Yes it was raining the whole time. Right at high tide I had 5 squid swim right
under my light and within 3" of my jig but never even looked at it. Those 5 squid were
the only ones I saw, no one else fishing there but lots of vehicles coming and looking then
leaving. At least I got out and tried again. Still not going to give up yet.

I think my next try is going to be a little north of Boston as I keep hearing
reports of decent squidding there. The reports never say if its strictly a
night thing and does not mention which tides are good, usually high tide
during darkness. I have seen squid caught during the day but thats the
exception to the rule usually. Any one been going there, Salem, Beverly,
marblehead and Glouchester are the areas the reports are coming from.
Greg ct yes there has been lots of squid offshore reported but the inshore
onshore squid has been just about non existant.

Reversed the curse
.Â
North shore of Mass has squid. Fished for 2 1/2 hrs last night in Salem and
came up with 10 squid for my efforts. A lot of couples squidding had around
30 for 2 hrs of fishing. Took me a while to figure it out but in the end came
home with 10 a mix of small medium and one large. 90 % of the squid caught
were tight to the bottom. I had my doubts about the area but I have never met
a freindlier bunch of folks fishing on a public pier. Bob was a great help pointing
out that I was a little to high off the bottom, lowered it 6" to my 1/2 oz sinker and
started catching. Turns out he is one of those ocean kayak fisherman. There
was a slight language barrier but the universal love to go fishing made for a very
happy camp out there. One other note was the regulars there said they have
been catching even during the day. I will be going back.

Cape has squid but I'm not that much desperate to make trip to cape.
I believe fall run happen pretty soon and I already gear up(most winter clothes) ready to go.
Can't wait to get cold weather.

I hear ya. The canal is the same 2 hr drive for me as is Salem and Beverly and RI.
Going tomorrow night as tide and all should be right. I have a 2 ft green led
battery power light also. Would love to go to GI or JT as I have never been there
as I like to try new (to me) areas. As for trusting your report that person just wanted
to upset you enough so you wouldn't post, they figure it would keep the numbers
down in those spots. I always enjoyed your posts AND reports. I started a new thread
on squidding new england states where I've been reporting on my travels.
