The worm hatch exploded tonight so the water has warmed up , Schools of squid should be entering Narragansett Bay.

Bust in Newport tonight. I tried GI and a couple other spots. Lots of bait. A bunch of jumping fish which I think were schoolies. No squid. No herring. On a plus night, it was a clear, cool, dark sky night. Another plus, since there were no squid, there was plenty of parking. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I was at the newport bridge and say a school of small squid nothing was biting. caught about half a bucket of herring. did a drive by GI bridge didnt see much action except everyone staring at me. the school of squid we saw was tiny squids but it was a good thing i guess there not to far behind

As long as the rain doesn't cool off the water too much, my guess is GI will be the spot for Friday night, the tides right.

Hello Greg CT, remember me Johnat and Suzy Squid? I have a question. I know you have a boat. I bought a 2012 triumph 17 foot center console made from ropolene polymer. I love it low maintenance and tough as nails.
My question is does the ink stain your boat? I would rather fish from the bridge if there is a chance of ruining the boat from ink stains to jig for squid. Does anyone else have experience and can answer this quesiton? I will probaly head out this Saturday, first trip of the season. Thanks in advance, Johnat

I'm sure this is not news to most of you guys who have fished Newport for decades, but I was looking around this morning for some stuff and for those interested, here is the parking details if you are coming down to Newport to fish.

If you are looking at overnight parking and want to be safe, I would suggest parking at the end of Broadway and walking the 4 blocks to the Causeway. Alternately, the meters turn off after midnight. Depending on the area, they turn back on between 6-9 a.m.

Squid ink will not gone unless using chlorine bleach but I don't think you have plain white fabric, so just cover up with some vynil. Other hull area should be fine unless you got dull gel coat)

I've never had a problem with ink stains on fiberglass as long as you rinse it down before it dries. Anything porous is a different issue, but again, don't let it dry and you should be ok.

There isnt many squid around to get any ink on anything <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Was at JT last night 8-12.Got 8 squid and 2 herring

Planning on heading out tomorrow to try my luck again. I was going to try the morning high tide at GI. I know the run has been marginal in Newport. Should I bother or should I stay home and mow the lawn? I've been out 3 nights now and caught 1 herring and 0 squid.

Am trying tomorrow night again. seen squid the other night just wasn't biting it wasn't a big school but at least there was a sighting

It's been really slow season. I've been JT,GI countless times for this year but I do not seen any school of squid yet.
Also action is very low, don't know why but I guess onece blue moon they will. Sight <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />(
