Newport Ri 2013 Squid Season
I just ordered yamashita warm jacket jigs along with some yo-zuri jig etc from the Japan.

I believe it's cheaper than local bait shop(sorry!)

And I can get it within 3business days.

I believe I'm the only one has yamashita warm jacket model and I'm really anxious to find out!

I've got a lots of different squid jig to test it this year and water temp in Newport is about 50.2 now.

I will try next weekday and let you guys know which jig is doing betterSmile
The thread on cape squiding reports them off hyannis. Ink up. Newport is usually a week behind the cape if I remember right.

Got the boat out today to shake out the cobwebs and ran down the southern beaches west of point judith. No squid on the finder but a few fish.

Water only 46, so still have a few days. Didn't have time to run over to Newport but hopefully they are moving in.
Fished JT last night no squid again even more herring
Do you know what kind of herring?

Atlantic herring is ok to catch but all other herring is illegal to catch. RI dem has same regulation as MA and problem is when environmental police show up. You have to make sure you caught right one and I think best way to doing is print their regulation bring it with you all the time.

Here is RI DEM herring regulation web site, hope this is helpSmile
