squiding report
#1
hi everyone, how's you guys weekend? mine was pretty boring since I have to study for my final exam <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cry' /> .

But yesterday after a few hours of studying I got a sign from up high in a form of telephone from my friend.

He want to try squid fishing with me, after 2 second of thought I said "yes" <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' /> , So of I went grab my rod and reel and waiting for him to come pick me up. we stopped by fishing shop to get him fishing licence and his first egi <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' />.

once we got what we need we're heading to bare island to get the action going. we started at the end of the island but it was too windy and my friend lost his egi after just 5 casts <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />.

Despite that we not giving up and keep going with what we have until the tide start to come up again around 7.15 PMish I caught one then my friend who now changed to chasing a fish got his line snagged again, so I lend him my outfit and taught him a few technique(that I learnt from youtube <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> ), then after a few cast he landed his first squid (and has to be his first PB as well lol). After all it was a good day for us with one squid each although my friend's girlfriend won't be really please now since I got him hooked to squiding and going to buy a proper eging outfit for our next trip.

The spot we caught the squid is headland before the bridge on the left hand side when you face bare island. I'll try to re-size the picture so until then I guess I still owe you guys a picture.

Thank you for reading, and all of everyone helpful information posted on this website. cheers

Congrats!

Quite a lot of rocks in the water there.

Gotta try to keep the egi off them.

yep I don't really dare to let the squid sink too deep after saw my friend lost his egi. Although I'm still thinking better lost the lure than sitting in the pub playing pokies. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/innocent.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Angel' />

zed I guess I'm kinda lucky then I lost a few jigs in a few trips as well. I find Aussie squid are usually feeding around mid to surface. I'm probably wrong but I usually get them between that sort of depth. Also I'm using 15lbs leader it helps me rip the weed instead of lose my lure.
