Yesh..I will see you there..Let's get squidaged..Gick Gick Gick
Went out with my son on Vashon at 04:00 this morning--- nary a bite. Too much seal action in evidence.
Hit the aquarium pier late last night. Slow slow slow. Smallies and a handful for medium to large sized ones. No jumbos. No schools. Water looked great. Just no squid of any significance.
Red, those jigs are working when there is squid to catch!
hi Mekim ya i know they have been working for me to .i see teds sport center has posted a picture on his web page of them.he is saying everyone using them are catching squid .you got to have jigs that work if you want squid now days.i see people all the time useing jigs that don't work go home with no squid in there buckets. i used 3 of them the other night with a 1\2 oz droper lead on the bottom jig and it worked great for me.going again Monday when the tides are better was -- 3 ft tonight thanks for the report <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' />
I saw a guy using a rig like that at Des Moines. Seemed like a good idea since Des Moines is so snaggy. I pulled up a couple of starfish while I was there using a two jig rig. I may try that a two jig lead rig out. Maybe it won't make me feel so paranoid when I go deep.
I squid at Des Moines and use the 2 jig and lead rig, I wonder if that is me you see. It works pretty well for the most part until you snag on a giant piece of seaweed.
Sorry for the late report but went out a couple nights ago, Seattle, and it sucked! Got around 20 in three hours or so.... Oh well!

Merry Christmas!
Got about 2-3 pounds of squid at 69, all small, and about a pound of herring. Then went to Des Moines, caught 1 squid and about 8 herring. I heard guys at Des Moines have pulled in liits and their all jumbos. Can someone confirm this.

Merry Christmas!
I was there on Tuesday morning and watched as a school came in and everyone on the dock go nuts. If you were in the right spot and knew what you were doing you cleaned up. If you weren't it sucked - I sucked. I caught 10 while 15 feet away guys almost filled their buckets. They were jumbos and near jumbos. The school seemed to stick around the end of the pier for about a half an hour than move on. It seems that it is a waiting game. You have to wait for the schools to show up to make the big score. You can catch some here and there. But, when the school comes in that's the time to pile them in if you can. There is a lot of seal activity there. They were tail slapping the water for some reason. The squid came in with the seal/seals around.
@Maxxy: Were you there last Tuesday or Wednesday? That's when I was down there. I use a15lb flurocarbon leader on 25lb Powerpro mainline. I've been lucky with that setup - I can usually pull through the seaweed or pull up a starfish. I've even pulled up chunks of metal at the aquarium pier. If I get into something really bad I sometimes bend out the hook. But, I have lost jigs. So, it isn't bomb proof.
@ Mekim: Yeah I was there on Tuesday and Wednesday. As a matter of fact, I was there all of last week. You're right about Des Moines being a waiting game for squid. I think that is why when someone catches squid in one area, everyone runs and crowds that area. I'll have to try using your set up, I remember trying braided line last year and didn't do so well until I switched over to 6lb mono.
Back from my deployment in Afghanistan. Going to Edmonds tonight. Wish me luck. Been so-so ever since I first started squiding 3 years ago (though last year I couldn't go b/c of my deployment).
Good luck in Edmonds. It's been mediocre at the aquarium pier here in Seattle. But, Pier 69 seems to be doing OK. Welcome back. Thank you for you serving - my father and brother were in the service.
