Anyone here have experience with this type of jigs?
Yes, I have used these jigs before. I bought 4 from ebay very cheap and have not bought any more. I worked a school of squid, my mate was smashing them with a yozuri, I caught none. On other occasions I have caught nothing which tells me not to waste my time with them. You may have more luck with them. There is a reason it's called squidding and not catching. In relation to the original post and given that I have not read the previous seven pages I believe squid are colour blind. It is my thinking that squid see variations in intensity of light which indirectly depict a colour but dont. confused? ask a colour blind person how they distinguish between the colour of a flower from lets say, grass. Squid see the same way, brown is not brown, its just a shade of grey darker than lets say yellow. As to the best colour to use? Im partial to a 3.0 cheapie, mainly green a little brown with a little bit of gold and silver. I also make my own using silvers and greys. the combination makes it more dynamic, catering for fussy customers.

Awsome advise after reading so many opinions blue was winning with pink close by, but the whole time I kept reading big on whole fresh baits. We`ll im starting my first session with one of each from a boat. Fresh will win I bet..

yeah the first time i encounted a squid was up north in jurien bay. i was going for anything big by leaving out a yellow tail with gangs. when would bring it in i would see a huge 45 cm squid follow it in. so i chucked the fish on a squier thingy and pulled in two 30-45cm squid. so i think real fish work best for big squid. BUt for jigs i like the 2.5 blue with green strips and it has the bards in the middle too. But if i had to chose one colour it would be
Caught thousands of squid in the 10 years I've been hunting them and hands down pink always catches squid when no other colour will.

I have always had a 2.5 pink yo-zuri sitting in my tackle box and caught a fair few at Lorne Pier using it, so going by that I would say pinks a good colour.
AIM: 3kg+ Squid
PB Squid: 1kg Calamari (Lorne Pier), 1kg Calamari (Port Cambpell Pier)

On overcast days i use green's and white and also use them in deeper waters,in shallow waters have used silver with red head, yellow with a red head have much better luck squiding early morning on a sunday day either from boat or kayak.

In my practice green/blue for the day, pink/red/orange during the night. I prefer Yamashita and YO-Zuri lures for places where i fish.

Here in Monterey,California, we fish squid using home made squid jigs. So far so good, all of the squid jigs that I have made are mostly pink in colour. some of them are green, orange, blue and white. Let me tell you, folks, pink really is the hot one.!!!!

I have only caught squid on orange jigs. I've only just started and only have about 10 jigs with some pink, green and orange.
