Looks like things have died off since feb. Any predictions when/where squid will start picking up again in the comming months? Specifically on kitsap, Bremerton? I'd like to try going now, but don't want to waste time if it's out of season.

My friend and I went last week and caught about 30 before the lights went out, caught them in about a hour and a half. It was slow for the first half hour.

We were over at the Illahee dock. There were 3 other guys too that were doing just as well. Most were 4-5" but there were a couple larger ones. Probably could've stayed and got more if that light didn't go out at 11, I had brought a light and battery but didn't feel like carrying it down there.

Last week was my first time out in a couple months but yeah I could see them coming up. One of the other guys I saw there I've squid with and he said it was his first time out too since February or so. My friend I went with that night went out the next night though or 2 days after and said they didn't catch that many. He was using those prism type squid jigs and I was using the glow in the dark kind.

Went out a few days ago at Illahee and caught a bunch. My friend and I left with about 80 or so in 2 hours. Big school of squid was there that night, think we just hit it right with the tide.

Ive been out to seattle a handful of times the last couple months and havent caught hardly any....there are squid out there, the swim around my jigg and laugh at me in pods. Better luck at Redondo, and some guys really can pull them in, i dont know what it is, went out and tried day fishing there not too long ago and caught 1 while the one other guy standing next to me must of pulled in 20. hopefully things start to get better. Does anyone know of any spots out near chelton or on the Hooh Canal, a buddy of mine has a cabin out there and i wouldnt mind tryin to catch a few squid. Also went to Les Davis 2 nights ago, high tide zero wind, and not a squid to be found, not even anyone else out fishing for them....

Went out to Bremerton at the Ferry docks, last night, ended up catching about 25 squid from 9-1130 fished the public marina until 1030 when the locked up the gate (breakwater) ? then came back in and fished off a smaller pier near the rocks, fun night over all pretty decent sized squid, Pink jig was working well all night.
First time for me at bremerton.

Quote:From late summer through winter, millions of squid return to spawn in Puget Sound, and before they do that they pack a hearty appetite gorging on small baitfish and crustaceans.
While the best squid jigging usually occurs from late November to February it isn't uncommon to catch them right now.

I haven't been out for squidding this season, but a couple I know went to Seacrest last week and caught about 30 squid. Some were nice size, they said. I also heard that Shilshole Bay Marina A dock was very good last year around this time. People need to go out and try their luck, and post the reports here so that we can all catch squid.
