Ordered the 5 mtr model to cover all situations. I wanted a grey gaff, but they are on backorder. Had to choose between the red and yellow models in stock. I went with red......
Paid $189, + $10 postage. Ordered the little jig keepers as well. Seen them before, they are really neat...

eging squid where abouts do you work? I have sold over 20 of these gaffs and not 1 person has made a bad comment about them. I have used them extensively and they can carry over 1.5kg. I'm sure cedrics picture can back this up too.

Not many people knows that the instant breaking limit for standard gaff head for Auto King Gaff 500 is 2kg and max load limit is 5kg.
Daiichiseiko found that the standard gaff head breaks easily, then they start to make stronger XS gaff head.

i agree for the squid we catch the gaff is great. i have both the 3 m and 5 me and never had it break. You watch the japanese videos and they lift some monsters with these gafs. i thing it will depend on the angle you lift up a big squid. typically when you use the gaf you are pulling them up vertically so the weight is distributes okay. Im sure if I tried to lift it up horizontally it may break. by from the pier once you hook the squid you simply pull up..

I said the first segment was pulled out,not break in the middle. because I always pull them up vertically.
