Gidday everyone.
I am in the process of upgrading my squid outfit.
Rod will be a Major Craft Pandra Sumidarake PD-782ML or Pandra Over Drive PD-782M
The problem I have is in the reel!
I have a Van Staal VS-100 currently mounted on a Diawa Saltige 63S, perfect combination for casting and rubber jigging.
The Van Staal weights 317g, has a manual bail that works very well once you get used to it and the feature I find the best is the anti-reverse. All other reels, the ant-reverse locks the spool solid, with the Van-Staal, the ant-reverse works like a sock absorber, there is an increasing resistance for about 20mm until full lockup. This gives a mono streaching effect to braid.
I can replace this reel for the Saliga with another Van Staal or a Zee Baas,
or
I can get an Emeraldas Colossal 2508RHW. 265g
As both reels are expensive, so I do not want to end up with a $1K reel that sits on the shelf!!
Any thoughts about the Van Staal as an egi reel??
