Yamashita Natural Series
#1
First time Buying a proper squid lure, didn't know why but ended up buying a no.2 Yamashita Natural series red jig.

Now I am doubting it's effectiveness at night as it does not glow in the dark.

Could I attack a flow stick/ glow beads on the line near the lure to make it more visible? or would I be better off just getting a competely different lure instead for night fishing?

cheers

Thats interesting, i found a Red Yamashita 2.0 down the beach a while back, i was amazed at how the eyes and tail glowed even in my own house.

Looks like a good jig.

i realise this is an older thread, but for those who read it, dont dismiss the yamashita naturals for any time of the day. ever! They are my favourite ig of all time, especially a 2.5 in the spotted gizzard shard colour. I have forgotten how many times I have outfished everyone on a pier with that jig. Yes ive had great success with harimitsu's, yo-zuris, gan craft etc etc, but the yamashita naturals have just worked out of sight for me, especially at night time. The squid dont need any glow to see. I used to have a jig ( dont know brand or anything) which was just black, and at night time it would absolutely kill! The darker colours assist to create a better silhouette I think, and the squid can see them no worries, thats why they have such big eyes!

i totally agree. my best night jig are the yamashita natual red in 2 and 3 and my megabass black purple one. no glow but work a treat. you can buy the glow spray squid scent but I have used it an not convinced it makes a real difference.

Yeah mate glow doesnt really do it for me. The only times I have got fish on them is when they werent taking ANYTHING else, and even then I would only get 1 or 2 max. Just not necessary.

On a side note, let us know when your heading out locally next Kim_Vic, as I am a beaumaris boy myself

to emphasize how good they are, and how obsessed I am with them, I bought 12 the other day <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Same colour.

Dont ask me why or how, but they seem to outperform most jigs at any stage of the day. Today there were heaps of squid around not taking anything, as soon as I put that one on I got a squid first cast. Other times I will catch heaps whilst others wont get a single one.

So yes, they are very good <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

yeah they are good as well. Got one or two on the iba today, cant remember how many exactly, but the squid were strange today, Would only take a jig once or twice, then you had to change jigs...

this reminsd me, I need to buy some new gan crafts <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />
