Best Places To Fish For Squid?
#1
It seems from a lot of posts, that popular places to fish for squid are off jettys.

And it also seems those Jettys with lights perhaps fish better than other Jettys that don't??

I just wonder if other places may also fish just as well?

Not so much off the beach, but off the rocks where you would fish for Snapper, Whiting, Gar Fish etc

I can understand that it will be harder for a squid to see a jig style lure at night if you were off the rocks in the middle of no where, than say off a jetty with lights.

Anyway, just wondered what you Squid Experts think on the subject???

I have a local jetty with lights i can always go to, but i also know some good spots to fish off the rocks in calm conditions around the coast for other species, just wondered if these areas my also produce good squid or if i am better stick to the jetty once evening falls <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

Thank Guys

Hello Salty_Dog,

I would say to go fish off the rocks and see what it's like and then you can decide on one of the two.

I would usually say a jetty though from my experience although if you have a good source of light or a good luminous jig then the rocks might not be so bad but you will never know for sure unless you try.

don't shy away from piers with no lights. If there are rocks/weed close to the pier and baitfish there will be squid.

Less squid fishermen also. Best time to get them for the most part is dawn and dusk.. start with flouro in the dark and adjust as the water quality/light does.

Natural baitfish colours in clear water in Yo-zuri/Yamashita/Sumi-Zoku sizes 2.0 - 4.0 depending on the squid size and water depth.

I just ordered 8 yo-zuri/yamashitas all size 3+ for the big squid i know are there...
No problem...

Can do. Right. Uh-huh.

Gotcha. Cat in the furnace.

no one should fish from the rocks at night, its a sure fire way to roll an ankle, or worse.
