Information On Spearfishing
#1
I have been doing a bit of research on spearfishing and have learnt alot but in alot of the info there are words that they use that i dont understand what they mean. Can someone give me a link or something with meanings of the words that i dont understand.Like a spearfishing dictionary lol.

Also i am not in the postion to be buying a tank as i have a limited budjet and want to just use mask and snorkel, where are the best sought of places to do this.Im in the mornington peninsula area if that helps.Cheers.

Post the words you don't understand here and I'll do my best to 'translate' them for you.

There are many MANY spots right on the Peninsula worth a look, anywhere with a bit of reef. You will probably find that a lot of people are unwilling to give you exact locations, but with a bit of work and trial and error you will find your own great marks.

Regarding spearing fish while on SCUBA gear.......Victoria is one of the only states in Aus which still legally allows this, but morally it is a questionable practice and you will not get much respect from other spearos by doing so.

hi ktm, jazman was saying that using a tank is frowned upon for spear fishing (because it makes it too easy).

snorkel and mask is what most people use <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> gives the fish a fighting chance <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

You've totally misunderstood what I said.

Spearing with mask and snorkel only (with breath-hold) = good

Spearing with SCUBA gear (tank etc) = bad
