Quote:Squid jigging has been lame this year on the local docks, but some are being taken most nights at Bremerton-area piers.

Hello All:

I've read many reports on many boards over the last few months. Alot of them report really poor squid fishing in teh Seattle area. That may be so but to the West a bit, you have Kitsap County. We have ahd a pretty good, consistant year. The squid are everywhere. The problem is the large runoff we have had into the river systems. All that silt can hinder squid fishing. Keep trying. The squid are around. The orders have not stopped <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />

Good Luck!

Quote:Squid jigging also has improved somewhat on local docks, including the Terminal 86 fishing pier. But the best squid catches are still coming from Bremerton-area docks.

Just got a report today for Des Moines pier. At least a few guys managed 10 pound limits on Friday, sometime after high tide at night.. Another guy went early Saturday morning and picked up 4 pounds.... sounds like they MAY have started to come in on the East side of the sound.

Went to Alkai last night and ended up with 4 pretty big squid (8" or so long tubes") and 1 tiny one. They were hitting like one every 15 mins or so when they were hitting at all. It was pretty low tide. Maybe I'll check out the south end.

Any idea how early is early?

Thanks!

The early morning guys are usually around 5am. Sounds like you got some nice ones!!!! I like those big ones like that, makes for a bigger meal!!! I may try to make it out myself later this week.

I probably would have caught more, but there was this annoyingly cute harbor seal swimming around under the dock through my light. I'm going to go again today after work. Hightide is around 5:30pm tonight so I'll give it a go for a few hours. Hopefully that damn seal won't be around.

Tell us all how it goes on your side of the sound.
