Silly question, but does it say RV on them anywhere? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' /> Not all Daiwa jigs rattle.

I could be wrong but the ones that rattle should say RV or H-RV on the side or sinker. They have 2 or 3 BBs in them. The standard ones have only one BB and are not supposed to rattle much. There is also a silent type with no BBs. On the sinker the have DS (dart and silent)
However, looking at my stash, I have a 3.0 MD that rattles (1 BB) but I couldn't find any others. I only buy RV and H-RV models from the MD series. All my other Diawa jigs are Neos. MDs are too expensive but only they have the RV models so I splash out sometimes <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />

I think they are the md ones the three I cut open all had one bb each . Its very strange as they had had a good rattle when new and they are not that old a few haven't touched water . I wish I could get the other types here is Australia as i was on a site last night and saw that they had some fast diving ones and some slow diving ones . They are Awsome jigs

Yeah, its Daiwa's old series so the price is a little lighter than the MDs

Mate I had 5 out of 15 of them the rattle sieze up i was so pissed of as I love the Daiwa jigs and I buy them for the rattle . I did cut open a few to check out if the bal bearing was corroded but it was fine no water inside the jig just the cavity seemed to be a little tight for the bb to run up and down .

Ben not sure about the rattles effect, they may well work if the squid are feeding on snapping shrimp which can be found at low tide under rocks(allways with a gobi oddly enough) Therefore they may be more effective if fished right on the bottom over rocky ground.

Daiwai says to use them as a variation like you might rotate colours.
My mates and I also tend to find the work better at night, there being next to no difference in the day time.

I know us fisherman fall for lures as much as fish .I was told they replicate the clicking sound that prawns make who knows and who knows if the rattle might bring on a take from a squid I dont know what the hearing would be like they must have awsome
sight with the big eyes all I know is since I have used the daiwa jigs I have better squid sessions . Favourite in the olive /gold colour

Mate I also have been using them for about 2 years awsome awsome jigs love them . Up till now I have had no probs with the jigs rattle . The only thing I think what could of happened is I sometimes have them jammed tight into my little plano tackle box <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> . I cut a few open and they are just hollow plastic so maybe they just warped that tiny bit that the bb cant slide from top to bottom . I do think the ball bearing plays a big part in the jig .From no on my fav jigs will have lots of room in the tackle bag

MY New jigs the rattle has also jammed <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rod:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> after my last experience I ended up putting it down to me keeping them tight in a plano tackle box. So since then I have kept my new ones in the special Daiwa jig cases . I went to get them to show my FatherInlaw yesterday and four of the jigs the rattle has jammed <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> I am pissed of as I love these jigs and swear the rattle in the jig brings on a strike from squid .Both Tackle shops I bought them from brushed me of so I will shoot an email to the Distributers Daiwa Australia and see what they can do .
