I was just wondering had anyone try Squid Fishing around Mystic, Connecticut? If so, how is it? I really don't want to drive 2 plus hours to Newport, RI if Connecticut area have it too. Thanks...

never heard of anyone squidding in Mystic but I have heard of ppl fishing in Stonington
Squid: The other other OTHER white meat
Last May we caught a bunch in Noank, didn't have much luck at the town dock, but a friend of a friend knew someone @ Ford's lobsters, they have nice lights on the dock. I am looking for a place too....

thanks for the idea. uptech2000[/quote] WomenFishOn, Where have you seen squids in CT??? I have a boat and trying to find some local CT place to squid fish because the gas price is starting to empty my wallet. It's starting to get really expensive to drive to RI or Hyannis. Thanks...

I was going to try this weekend, and just got busy. I"m gonna try town dock in Noank, heard some people who have a boat @ spicers marina, but they didn't have any luck. Don't know if there is a dock down in noank by Abbotts. Might try stonington too... i'll let you know if we catch any.

well Uptech, i saw the squid in the water. lol i'm not sure if it is regular or just an occasional thing. but, i went out by the east rip with a friend by clinton, ct. it was nighttime and we were stripper fishing. saw the squid just inches from the top of the water.
it was also the week after july 4th. like i said i am not sure if it's something that happens all the time or it was a coincidence. I know when i go tuna fishing we see tons of squid in sept/oct. i catch them live & use them to catch tuna... fresh is always better than frozen anyday.

I even snagged one on a spro bucktail, during a daytime fluke trip. Hoping to find them again this summer so I can actually get out with the lights and see if I can get a few. |
