squid in Cook Islands? - jumbocalamar - 03-08-2010 I will be travelling to the Rarotonga and some of the other Cook Islands (Mauke and Mangaea) in about a week and would like to catch squid there -- probably purple back flying squid, Sthenoteuthis oualienensis. Any information or suggestions would be most welcome -- especially places, methods, local boats and fishermen. We used small, flat-sided jigs to catch thes squid between Hawaii and the Line Islands in the past, but I can't remember the store in Honolulu where they were bought, and I can't seem to find any on the web. squid in Cook Islands? - glen - 04-08-2010 good question! actually i would not mind going there myself. though someone said the weather in the cook islands can be quite cold which surprised me. i hear they have bonefish on the northern islands which would be cool. |
