more homemade jigs - The Squiding Phenom - 14-02-2011

I have alot of different jigs I make but not enough attachment qouta to post them all.

Keeps me busy when I am not at work or not fishing. The hooks on these jigs are from Colemans and are top quality as he says. I also make my own hooks but that is time consuming tedius work. Jigs with mylar are epoxy coated and all jigs glow to some degree, some glow BRITE! I'll figure out a way to take pics of that too.

I post more pics in future post unless the upload qouta doesnt reset for each post.

Some tips for making your own jigs.

1. Use only stainless wire and hooks.

2. When using Mylar tubing you must coat with WaTeR PrOoF Epoxy. Just any cheap epoxy will get milky in water.

3. When using vinyl tape, heat seal the ends with a light bulb. Prevents unwrapping.

4. Get as creative as you want but remember there just squid not art critics and some of the best jigs are the most basic.

The most important thing about your jig is Weight, Diameter , then Color. Your jigs should also be smooth and easy for the squid to grab onto.
