Rain, Rivers, and effect on Squid - SquidderNW - 09-12-2011

I plan on heading down the NW coast soon and I was curious what people's thoughts are on rain causing rivers to blow out (into the Ocean).

I plan on hitting a pier near a river when I head south.

I was a fishing a Seattle pier and they were telling me fishing anywhere near a river (especially after a rain) will be bad. They said that this is primarily due to the fact that squid hate fresh water.

I have fished piers near fresh water outlets before and had good luck, but I wouldn't say they were greatly affected by rain.

Thoughts?

I've heard the same about dungeness crab but have caught plenty near river mouths, just not at flood stage. don't think it will matter. Les Davis pear is a good spot and its near the mouth of Puget Creek.
