Yamashita's Whizzers Jive Vs Breaden Spice(WideRange)

Hello everyone,

I'm planning to purchase a dedicated EGI rod from overseas but I'm torn between two options and I need help deciding between the two. Which of the following would be a better choice ?

Or the crimson red

I guess, it boils down to weight comparisons now , as the breaden is 118 grams, but I'm not sure how heavy are the Yamashita's compared to the breaden.

Has anyone used a Yamashita WHIZZER's JIVE rod of the following models ?

WJ832M 8'3"

WJ862M 8'6"

I would like to know which is lighter ? the breaden or the Yamashita? Thanks

I had the opportunity to test drive the Whizzer's Jive WJ862M on the weekend, and I loved it.

It's a very nice rod, great action & casts like a dream.

It was mated to my Shimano Soare30 2500HGS.

The specs I found online for the Yamashita are:

High modulus carbon blank

Fuji Titanium K guides & Fuji SIC rings

Fuji reel seat

High density EVA foam grip

Fast tip action

Max egi 3.5

0.6 to 1.2 PE Line

Weight 151g

The WJ832M is listed as 143g.

I haven't actually weighed it, so can't confirm that listed weight.

I'll try putting on some scales tomorrow & see what they report.

Don't let the weight put you off.

See if you can try them both, before you order.

The weight should not matter much, since I'm pairing it with a Stradic Ci4.

unfortunately, egi fishing is a bit on the rare side back here in Malaysia. Nobody sells specialized gear back here, so have no choice but to rely on online feedback. lol

I see.

No doubt the Breaden is a good rod.

I've noted a few people using that model you listed.

Just haven't had a chance to try one <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

You guys are so lucky to have huge numbers of Southern Calamari raiding the shores every now and then, not to mention the countless other species!, haha

whereas, our shores are pretty much an unexplored region for egi sportfishing, which I suppose will require a bit of adventure.

I've seen the Noary rod in person this week and to be honest, the build quality was not good.

I went with the crimson breaden! and that was a good investment!

I went to Samurai tackle, nothing but good reviews from me so far! if you cant find the product on the website, you can request the owners to place an order.

thanks all bro for your infd. look like breaden is in a higher end rod. out of my budget. now only left with 2 choice. whizzer's jive or Shimano sephia CI4 both same spec. but look like whizzer's weight more heavier. look like the best choice is to get Shimano. yamashita is more on jig wise. correct if I'm wrong. but my heart tell me to get Whizzer.

I love the Whizzer's Jive.

And besides, Squid, I've seen 2 Yamashita Pro Staff using them to catch Australian Salmon.

The rods are crazy strong, and don't be putt off by weight.

There's a few mid to high end rods that are slightly heavier than Shimano or Daiwa, such as Gan Craft's Violence Jerk.

They are heavier, but stronger.

And remember, companies like Yamashita, Breaden, Gan Craft etc makes specialty Eging Rods, the others are more main stream rods.

EDIT: The Whizzer's Jive is also 100% Carbon.

Other brands use from 95-97% Carbon blanks which I'd guess may also help with weight reduction.

The Naory Feeling Shaft is not suitable for your type of eging.

They are purely for targeting small arrows etc.

From memory, the biggest egi they're designed for a 2 or 2.2.

hi bro -ojingo is soare30 2500HGS a rigid drag? look like this reel had already discontinue in japan. a small mighty reel pack with power

Help... i need a decision Whizzers JIVE vs Breaden Spice - Ojingo - 05-11-2012

Braeden vs Whizzer's Jive, whatever you prefer.

The Fuji weight system is good though on some of the Braedens.

Darren,

What do you mean rigid drag?

Yeah, this original Soare is long out of production.

I happened to be out and saw it for sale so I grabbed it.

Still might find them here locally, I spoke to the owner of Rockdale Tackle last year and I think he had a couple.

Been perfect so far!
