Login problems? - glen - 05-12-2003 Hi everyone, First I have a question for you! If you login to the forum and then close your browser and then come back later, are you still logged in? Do you have to keep signing back in every time? Well if you do, then you probably have a COOKIE problem. A cookie is a small file that the squidfish forum sends to your computer and it keeps a record of you being logged into the site. I have noticed that Internet Explorer, depending on how you have got it set up, may refuse to download cookies from squidfish onto your computer. This will mean that you will continually have to keep logging in every time you come back. The relevant cookie settings in Internet Explorer can be viewed by clicking on: "Tools" then "Internet Options" then the "Privacy" tab. You will have a sliding scale (high to low). Now if it is set to "High" or "Medium High" then the squidfish cookies may be blocked. A way around this is to click on the "Edit" button down the bottom. Then you can type in "squidfish.net" into the box and click "ALLOW". This will put squidfish on your safe list and the cookies should be delivered OK. You might wonder why Internet Explorer refuses to accept cookies from squidfish. I suspect it is because I have not put a privacy policy on the website. Internet Explorer looks for a privacy policy and if it can't find it then it thinks something is fishy. For the record, I don't use any private information for anything! I don't give your details to anyone!!! I will soon write up a privacy policy. In the meantime, the info provided above should provide a fix to the problem. When you start accepting cookies correctly you will also find that the google ads in the forum start to work properly! (This is actually what made me realise that cookies were causing some problems.) Let me know if these instructions are clear and if they work! Cheers, Glen :geek :geek Login problems? - adam - 05-12-2003 yea, that happens to me! ill try what you said, and see if it works |
