Squid Jigs Sharpener? - squid head - 04-09-2004 Hello everyone, Does anyone out there know if there is such a thing?? A jig sharpener???? Seems like to me that the sharper the jig the better the jig...well thatââ¬â¢s pretty understandable i guess but my jigs become dull after a season of use and than even though they are still very bright in colour they donââ¬â¢t seem to fish very good unless the squid strike hard...if you haven't fished with a squid hauler, newfoundland style, than maybe you donââ¬â¢t understand, but when squid is around but not biting really good you can look down in the water and see them hitting your jigs but most let go and donââ¬â¢t get hooked unless you have brand new jigs on your lines all the time!!! That can get quite expensive. Just was wondering if there was such a thing!! It would be of great use here in my part of the world!!! Squid Jigs Sharpener? - Mr_Willy - 09-09-2004 SH - i think a normal hook sharpener would work..........they sell them here in Australia - i use them on my lures (not squid ones). I bought mine for $4.99....... Squid Jigs Sharpener? - squidjigdotcom - 09-09-2004 I would think any small diamond file would work the best, and easiest to use. I've never had to sharpen mine.... Squid Jigs Sharpener? - glen - 09-09-2004 another option might be to just replace the crown of hooks everyone once in a while. though this would only work if the jigs could be easily taken apart and re-assembled. cheers, glen Squid Jigs Sharpener? - squidjigdotcom - 09-09-2004 Most hooks aren't that difficult to remove from the fancier fish & prawn shaped lures. Many of the manufacturers use a glue that will soften when heated, and you can put new hooks on with epoxy. I just happen to have hooks available as well.... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Squid Jigs Sharpener? - squid master - 20-09-2004 If you want to sharpen the jigs you might want to think about the time it will take. I would think it would be more cost effective to replace the jigs. Squid Master www.juicyjigs.com Squid Jigs Sharpener? - Guest - 24-01-2005 use a sharpening stone.
