Goggles Fogging Up - rohan - 18-05-2005 Whats the best way to stop your goggles fogging up? Of course we all spit in them and all the rest of it but alas, some days (like today) it seems despite my best efforts, the goggles are constantly fogged up! I once heard rubbing tooth paste or detergent on them resolves this age old ailment, but what next? Sauce? Petrol? Urine? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> So come on peoples, whats the trick? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> Goggles Fogging Up - Jazman - 18-05-2005 I do the spit trick, and generally don't have a problem, but every once in a while it pays to give your mask a good clean out with toothpaste - I'm not sure why it works, but someone told me that the inside of the mask accumulates some sort of build up that causes undue fogging, which the toothpaste removes - not sure if this is true or not. Also, there are some commercial products that you can buy to use instead of spit - some americans on a dive boat I was on were horrified to see me spit in my mask, and insisted that I use some of their defogging drops - they worked fine, but no better than spit in my opinion. I reckon you should try washing your mask out with toothpaste and then see if the problem remains. He pointed out some vegetation that grows on the edges of the sand and we were told to break up the leaves and rub them on the inside of the goggles with a bit of saltwater... it worked a treat <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> the plant was like a succulent so maybe its worth a try finding something similar?
