Cuttlefish From Sibu Kelong - Kalib - 17-10-2006 This isn't my cuttlefish but my uncle's one. Just posing with it. Been awhile since we've caught any cuttlefish of this size, not the biggest but of reasonable size. Furthermore, it took the jig the moment it hit bottom, so we didn't have to wait for it to get hooked up. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ![]() Cuttlefish From Sibu Kelong - glen - 17-10-2006 Hi Kalib, Thanks for sharing those photos. It would be good to hear more about these malaysian kelongs. We don't have such things in Australia. If I understand correctly, a kelong is just a fishing platform on stilts and away from the mainland. Is that correct? Do people only use them for fishing? I found some photos of Sibu Kelong here: http://www.sgforums.com/?action=thread_dis...hread_id=130354 Cheers, Glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ![]() Cuttlefish From Sibu Kelong - Kalib - 18-10-2006 Just sharing my catch thats all. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ![]() Yup, your right their structures built on stilts. They maybe used to rear fish to be sold for food or net fishing is conducted at the kelong. Light is used to attract fish, squid etc.. into the nets and the nets are hauled in. For the sibu kelongs, these kelongs are for holiday makers and fishermen. Mostly, people go there to fish while some may go there just to rest and relax. These kelongs arrange trips for people to visit the nearby Sibu Island for activities like swimming. Nothing that fantastic, but squid fishing can be good at times. This fella was cut up and deep fried salt n pepper style. Tasted good, except the meat was a little thick and tough. However, still tasted great, beats market squid anytime. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ![]() |
