Stupid question, because I think I know the answer, but is it best to squid in high or low tide? And is squidding during the day possible? I've heard it was, but wondering if it is due to the tide and water temp, not the light attracting them at night? Thanks! Going to start trying maybe next week! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

I have had periods during the day of catching squid that rivaled the night fishing.

One woman landed 4 at once during the day.

I was out of work last april and one day I fished there for 17 hours straight, and honestly can say, the best time to be there is the best time that you can be there. They travel in schools so on an incoming tide you may hit more schools, but they pass through more quickly as well.

The first year I got into squid fishing, I caught a few at night over a few nights after work ~9pm-3am , last year I caught nearly 80 lbs combined day and night fishing.

so, during the day, do you just drop your line and jig as you would at night? without the light, I'm assuming... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

I suppose if you had a blinking light on the rig, it would not hurt on a grey day.

Otherwise, the sun is awful competition.
