Wind Sheltered Beaches near Melbourne - flounderpirate - 24-04-2008 Ahoy me hearties! Does anybody know of a good beach sheltered from this bleeding wind? Wind Sheltered Beaches near Melbourne - glen - 24-04-2008 hey flounder pirate! for a south westerley wind you could try Blairgowrie I guess! shame it is so far away! i haven't been floundering for ages. have you tried lately? cheers, glen Wind Sheltered Beaches near Melbourne - Jazman - 24-04-2008 Eeeeargh...argh! Ahoy Mike, good to see you back on squidfish <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wub' /> As Glen said Blairgowrie is good for protection from any wind from the south to the west. The other beaches inside PPB on the peninsula (sorrento etc) are also worth a look. As for the other side of the bay - I reckon anywhere inside corio bay would be alright, also perhaps portarlington or st leonards if you can be bothered driving through geelong and out the other side. EDIT I just had a peep at the PPB forecast, apparently you guys have north-north westely winds at the moment. So I would be looking at anywhere from altona to werribee, and maybe avalon beach as well? Wind Sheltered Beaches near Melbourne - flounderpirate - 28-04-2008 Arrgh. Haven't since I got married matey. It kind of put the brakes on any flounderin' action. But hopefully soon. Wind Sheltered Beaches near Melbourne - flounderpirate - 28-04-2008 Ahoy Jazman. It is good to see a post from you! How's the Jolly Roger flying? I was actually thinking to try those exact beaches on the western side, but lately the water has been a bit choppy. How's the fishing/Flounder action where you are? Wind Sheltered Beaches near Melbourne - flounderpirate - 01-05-2008 Ahoy there mateys! Here's a neat little trick for ye all. Scope out likely spots and suitable beaches using Google Maps, it gives a great idea about the areas from the air. Wind Sheltered Beaches near Melbourne - glen - 01-05-2008 hi pirate! ah hoi! yes google maps is very good for that. we have been using it for an upcoming trip to Western Australia! it is a good way of avoiding mangroves and swamps etc while on foot. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> |
