Sink Rates - fishifingers - 05-09-2008

I am after the sink rates for a couple of my jigs. they are,

YO ZURI Aurie-Q sizes 1.8 and 2.

Daiwa emeraldas size 2.5

Yamashita Egi Sutte sizes 2.0 and 2.5

Can anyone help?

I've checked out websites but no info.

I understand some sink quicker than others and i like to change depending on where squid are feeding, current, wind etc.

Thanks.

That is not really enough info to answer the question as there are different sub models.

But this website would answer the question if you can tell me which Daiwa jig you are using:

Click on the relevant jig and look for 沈下スピード(秒/m)

Yamashita Egi Sutte - http://www.yamaria.co.jp/~expinfo/yamashita_products.htm - No sink rates unfortunately

Yo ZURI - Pick the correct jig on the left of the page. Then click on "sinking speed" at the bottom of the page:

Thanks Glen.

The Daiwa Emereldas is the MD 2.5 fire. I did find the sink speed by walking into my local tackle store and looking at the back of packet. The problem is that i am not very fluent in reading Japanese. The 2.5 Daiwa sinks at 5 to 6sec per meter and last nite i used both daiwa and Yamishita Golden bait and found the Yashi got into the strike zone a little quicker even though both jigs have the same sink rate. I also had a look at the yo zuri link you provided and it only lists sink speed for the Aurie Q in size 3.5.

Any idea how to get the websites lke the Daiwa jp in english? Daiwa au also has the emereldas but again no sink speed.

I suppose thats part of the whole experience different conditions need different approaches. if all squid/fish took whatever we threw there way wouldn't be much fun...

Thanks again.

I had a search through the japanese part of the DUEL/YOZURI website but did not find any reference to a sinking speed. Though it is quite hard as I can't speak japanese either <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

If you want to try and translate the Daiwa website try this.

No offense!! but, with the amount of time on the computer couldn't you just drop them in a bucket or something and see which ones are fast or slow and come up with your own measurement???? Just a thought

Stop being so practical! hahaha <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fishing.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rod:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fishie.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wh' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Actually i have but the problem is trying to replicate current, wind and a few meters of sea water in a bucket.

Sink Rates - glen - 08-09-2008

You need a really big bucket <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

How abouta fish tank, maybe the Aquarium? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Sink Rates - glen - 08-09-2008

Or I guess you could actually just drop them into the ocean off the side of a pier...just make sure you tie them on a line first...or otherwise be a good swimmer to retrieve them <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Water restrictions. Sorry.

I was just curious thats all. It would be interesting to know what worked best in diff conditions.
