Squid Fishing - fishingt - 17-11-2009 Dear all, Foe the squid fishing, which kind reels and rods you use? Looing forward to infoes. Thanks! Squid Fishing - henri26 - 20-11-2009 Hey fishingt you can use a populare technique like hand line or you could just use the normal rod and reel, preferably quite light line if your fishing off a jetty. and quite light gear Squiby Squid Fishing - Jyesic - 05-03-2010 Yes you should use a light rod that is fairly bendy and quite long with a spinning reel (egg beater) that is of a fairly small size and for the line, if using braid use a light leader. I use a 6kg leader myself and if not using braid just use light line. Lastly you should try using a good quality jig as they are far more superior than bad quality jigs for many reasons. I would recommend using Yo zuri jigs too and if fishing off a jetty I find 3.0 an ideal size. Jyesic Squid Fishing - Acslata - 06-03-2010 I usually use 2 setups at different times & places. -med 6'6" spinning rod w/ a 9.5oz reel. I use this for bridges or with multiple jigs & weight. -ultra light 5'6" spinning rod w/ a 6oz reel. I use this for finessing lighter/smaller jigs with no added weight. Fyi: I find these setups to be great for bridges, docks & walls. For shore/jetties & areas with structure, you might want a stouter setup. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> |
