Syndey, NSW Offshore - catchnrelease - 16-12-2009 After getting sick of inconsistent results and small squid inshore, I went offshore and I realised that the squidding really is better off offshore bommies and reefs. We got 8 nice ones, I got the biggest being 23cm from tip to mantle. I should spend more time out there instead of La Perouse. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':oops' /> Syndey, NSW Offshore - glen - 18-12-2009 Ripper photo! Thanks for sharing! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':oops' /> Syndey, NSW Offshore - Salty_Dog - 19-12-2009 You sure are correct catchnrelease.... heaps more out wide and depth. After you experience how many and how easy it is, it becomes very hard to want to fish for squid off a jetty. Syndey, NSW Offshore - jewgaffer - 05-02-2010 Hi fellas like to say hi as a newbie to the site and share a few pics of some offshore squidding that we had done from sydney. We used yammishita 2.5 naturals at first as that was the only jigs in the bag we had but they were ripping off the hooks so we returned with larger jigs and caught a couple. One squid that got away left a suction cup on the jig and i left it on the bait board and when it dried out there was sharp teeth inside it ''very scary stuff'' we just gaff them and then deal with it once its dead. here are some pics of the squid while drifting late one night enjoy!!! cheers jase Syndey, NSW Offshore - glen - 05-02-2010 very nice squid pics! welcome to the forum! caught any jewfish lately? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> Syndey, NSW Offshore - jewgaffer - 06-02-2010
very nice squid pics! welcome to the forum! caught any jewfish lately? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Thanks for the welcome did go last night and landed 2 in the harbour on live squid. A mate of mine hooked one around the 3kg mark and one other that was alot bigger was trying to eat it this was around 3 times its size. I really dont know how big they grow but we have seen some big ones come up to the lights at the back of the boat. They seem to be in numbers in the colder months but are caught all year. Well to get a average size the squid is beside my tyrnos 30 and a 15kg tcurve game stick laying on a 200kg esky. Syndey, NSW Offshore - glen - 11-02-2010 thanks for the info! nice pic! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Syndey, NSW Offshore - choad - 18-03-2010 are you using light sticks on your rig for night jigging? what is your rig setup? patternoster with multiple jigs, free weight, weighted? The chunky body is very different to the elongated tube of most inshore Arrows here. They also look like some of the imported Korean & Jap caught squid(that may also come from Southern Oceans) Syndey, NSW Offshore - glen - 14-05-2010 hi catchnrelease, is this offshore from Sydney? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Syndey, NSW Offshore - catchnrelease - 14-05-2010
hi catchnrelease, is this offshore from Sydney? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Yeah, but this is a fair way in the past though!
