Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - angler - 13-05-2016 Another obervation from GI Bridge. I observed a lot of fishean used portable LED spotlight instead of the traditional gas lantern. These lights seemed to be strong in tems of luminescence but life seemed to be short. Does anyone know what are the wattage? Checked out n ebay, there are a few wattage options ranging from 10W to 50W. Any advice? Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - fatso - 13-05-2016 I have 2 that's led 30w. Works fine. Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - Squidjiggawhat - 13-05-2016 I'm not sure. I use a hydro glow light connected to a car jump starter battery. It lasts more than a few hours. Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - fatso - 14-05-2016 Remember to share your lights. Hate those people never want to share their lights. Lol. Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - angler - 14-05-2016 Always been a sharer for the past 2 decades on GI Bridge though with old technology (gas lantern) ;-) Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - Matsquidman - 14-05-2016 Nothing at All at GI this morning up to 1pm. Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - JANZ - 15-05-2016 Went out with Frances fleet last night 7pm to 1am.   20 -40 FOW and it was a slow but steady pick all night in the rain and drizzle.  Right around 100 squid for the night. Mostly singles with 5 or 6 doubles, no triples for me.Both long and short fin squid with the short fins being some monsters. Squid were from the bottom to the surface at different times through the night. took a couple dozen on the surface, most of my squid came from traditional bottom jigging. Would have to rate it as fair to good. BTW cost of trip was $45. Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - alaskanaturally - 15-05-2016 Quote:Went out with Frances fleet last night 7pm to 1am.   20 -40 FOW and it was a slow butNice report Janz. Went there the last two Mondays nothing. Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - Funsquidding - 16-05-2016 Hello everyone I am new to the forum, and to answer the last post I went to GI causeway last Thursday night and got about 1/4 of 5 galon bucket Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - Bduff424 - 16-05-2016 New to this site but read a lot of good information atleast on locations to try.. I'm from mass and never knew how great of a squid fishery Rhode Island was! Tried for my first time tonight from the GI causeway.. Brought two 1000 lumen led work lights hooked up to inverter off truck battery. Pink yozuri squid jigs one lightly weight one not. Tried everything from 1/4 oz weight to 2 oz weight tied off to the back of the jig as instructed by watch hill outfitters.. Only got one squid but meanwhile the guys left and right of me had two 5 gallon buckets full each.. Tried every motion possible jigging paying attention to the two masters next to me.. One guy had a generator and couldn't keep his line in rn water. Saw him using a multi hook jig.. Seemed to be the only difference in my set up and his. Have to try again tomorrow with something similar and hope for better success Newport Ri 2016 Squid Season - alaskanaturally - 16-05-2016 Quote:Using medium size jigs (pink yozurris) with 2 oz weight. Thanks!
