Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - ksong - 06-05-2015 Thank Greg CT for your kind words.I am fishing with Capt Jeff of the Bad Influence today. The reason I decided to post is I got several emails that some spread wrong info. It is no good some could travel for hours for nothing based on wrong info. I don't expect hot squid fishing today as it usually takes a few days to build up. Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - ksong - 06-05-2015 There were about 10 boats today. When we got there around 11:00am, it was slow pick. But it got better late in the afternoon. I had more than half bucket though we checked several different places for scouting. We marked squid pretty good, but they move quickly. Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - famco - 06-05-2015 Getting plenty at docks in Hyannis harbor Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - ksong - 07-05-2015 Yesterday was the only day I could go squid fishing as I leave for Okinawa for tuna fishing today. I just talked with a charter boat Capt in Hyannis and he said squid fishing is pretty good now. I would say squid fishing in Hyannis is finally on.  Good luck guys. Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - greg ct - 07-05-2015 and my boat is still waiting to launch... sigh. At least I'm on the list. Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - 1LuckySquid - 07-05-2015 Hi guys, im new to here, got into squidding last year, just wonder where exactly do you stand on land to fish for squid in hyannis. Finally Saturday is here. We got to Hyannis at 12:00 pm There were many boats out there. We started fishing but it was slow going pretty slow, may be half a bucket in two hrs. I though that it's going to be bleak for sure. Then all in a sudden 3:00 pm it was a blitz, major biomass of squid we could not catch up with the bites. By 6:45 pm we filled a hundred quarts cooler and 1 1/2 buckets. We have to leave because of the heavy fog couldn't see more than 20 feet in front of us. The bites was still good but fog make it too dangerous to stay and it was getting dark. Yeah the squid are still in Hyannis. We got enough squid for food and bait for the year. So the rest of you still have not get your quota go for it. Here are some pics. Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - fishermonkey - 10-05-2015 Quote:Here is my report.Hey Squidfox,  In the pic, why does one bucket show squid that looks red??? What makes it red like that?  Fisher Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - vito - 11-05-2015 Nice work squidfox, i also heard the bite had been picking up in the afternoon. The squid are red cause they are still alive and changing colors is one way of defense for them. Those in the half full bucket are just pulled out of the water and they still changing colors. I want to take out my son, he is 9, for the first time and I don't know where to go. Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - boulderdash - 11-05-2015 I went out in my yak today in front of the ferry terminal and caught about two dozen large tubes .It was my first time there and my first squid fishing trip ever. I think I  did ok. Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - inthedunes - 11-05-2015 Hi, new member here.  First, thanks for all the great information.  I've learned a lot here.  I have been living in Edgartown for almost two years, and my fiancee and I have had a lot of fun squidding off Memorial Wharf.  Recently, she got a job in a kitchen a block away, and I pick her up after work.  Usually between 1030 and midnight.  That means I get a lot of opportunity to scout for squid.  We thought we saw some action a few nights ago, threw some jigs, but didn't get anything.  We are pretty new at this, and I think I mistook baitfish feeding on the surface for squid.  They were moving fast.  Well, tonight the main lights on the wharf were off at just after 10pm.  Only the lights to the right as you walk from the lot to the wharf were on...leaving a small patch of lit water but mostly the few fishing boats there were lit up.   That wasn't the first time.  Recently, I've noticed the main lights off on several occasions.  Also, it could be my poor memory, but I thought I remembered big shoe-box or larger sized single units there, and now the lights are smaller, like security lights for a home driveway?  Again, it is probably just my memory being faulty, but it seemed to both of us when the lights were on that they were dimmer.  So that is a long way of saying there is a problem with the lights at Memorial Wharf in Edgartown.  I don't know if it is accidental or intentional.   I did see some people Saturday night with buckets who looked like they were bringing in something.  I didn't have time to park and check it out, but rumor has it the squid are in.  The question is, where are the lights? Hyannis and Edgardtown Squid - fishermonkey - 12-05-2015 Hi folks,  I'm thinking of making the 2 hour drive to Hyannis docks tomorrow (Wednesday) night... just checking if anyone's caught any in the last couple of days off the docks I'll probably go anyway, but would be nice to get confirmation...  Thanks! |
