Brighton pier and surrounds - VIC - masejess33 - 04-05-2010 what do we all think about the yamashita squid rods? fonzi $15 for a flashdance... Brighton pier and surrounds - VIC - rocksy - 04-05-2010 the Yamashita guys use Graphite Leader <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />: I think they are to light for the bigger jigs, could be wrong though. Brighton pier and surrounds - VIC - rocksy - 04-05-2010 Also, whats the deal with Gesola, it seems to be an american company with an australian sub company both under the River 2 Sea name. Brighton pier and surrounds - VIC - masejess33 - 04-05-2010 ahahah there you go. i held one tody, seemed very liht and flimsy Brighton pier and surrounds - VIC - masejess33 - 04-05-2010 river 2 sea is cheap rubbing? Both arround the $350 mark if buying in Australia and half that from japan. There is te gladiator and from what I have seen and read they are a cheap rod and tend to break very easily. Breaden rods are now avaliable here and they are a step above again and so is the price range.. But overall if your startign out the Yamashita rods are great. I have decided my next rod will be GraphiteLeader rod from Japan and they seem to be the best on the market. but that price range doubles again. Brighton pier and surrounds - VIC - kgakoh0 - 05-05-2010 i was in fishing feve today and they have the gesola jigs. The yamashita rod is very light indeed. squid rods are made to be very light so you can jig hard and when you hool a squid its light enough not to pull the jig through the squid. The graphite leader rods are about 100g in weight and feel very flimsy but they at 100% carbon fibre so very strong. On a totally differnet topic does anone use air pressure (barometer) as a guide. I have read differnet artices saying that an increase in pressure makes fish and squid stomachics feel full and not feed as they are very sensitive to pressure changes. Im startign to log the pressure vs my strike rate and will see if there is a trend. daily pressures can be accessed via BOM http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/vic/observat...melbourne.shtml Brighton pier and surrounds - VIC - rocksy - 05-05-2010 yeah i was reading up on it the other day Kim. It's more noticeable in freshwater from what i can gather. But if i read it correctly the fast falling or rising can stimulate a feeding response but once it levels out and stays low or high they go quiet. Something to do with them going into deeper water to level out the pressure. not sure if its an extended low that can be bad for fishing, i might have read it wrong... i also just pulled this from a bookmark. Brighton pier and surrounds - VIC - masejess33 - 05-05-2010 rocksy nice..... pink flashdancer or that new jig? did they go off the bite at same time again? kim yes my next rod will be a graphiteleader......
