Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - era86 - 09-12-2011 Aquarium pier, owned by seal. Better luck next time. Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - red - 10-12-2011 the Edmonds Pier has had 3 to 4 seals every night this week.and they keep the squid on the run.you get 1 to 3 squid then here come the seals and the squid are gone for an hour or some times they don't come back. Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - WashingtonSquid - 10-12-2011
Yeah..just like you don't have to be a Captain of a Fishing dingy in Alaska to be an expert on seals than the next squider out there..
My "diingy" is a 33 ft Coldwater with twin 225 Yamaha Four Strokes sitting in Sitka. That happened to be the dingy that people paid me 1700 to take them out on every three days. Lets see your dingy and your obviously untapped wealth of knowledge fetch you those rates and we can talk. (Being booked for 110 days of the 112 day season averaging 3.97 people per day, speaks for itself on my boat.) Until then get on the docks, like the rest of us, and post something useful for the squid fishing community. All you ever post is shotty bs squidding reports from a boat in an undisclosed location with a GICK GICK GICK. Totally useless to most everyone on this forum. Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - bufford - 11-12-2011
Ok went to see this great squidding buford has been talking about at Mukilteo. What a waste of time! Cant believe I left Seattle last night for that! What a joke!
Actually WashingtonSquid..Jokes on You there Mr..Wannabe High roller.. So? Have you been catching any more squids at Mukilteo??
Actually I've been you on the docks and I've seen You..You didn't seem to be this outspoken in Person..Funny how the internet can do this to a person <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' /> Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - Squidman1 - 11-12-2011 Washington squid..... Are you fishing tonite Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - WashingtonSquid - 11-12-2011
Washington squid..... Are you fishing tonite
Yup we will be out there! Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - era86 - 12-12-2011 Aquarium pier, no good. Rain and no squid after 3 hours. Couple others caught some, but nothing to rave about. Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - amayuram - 12-12-2011 Confirming era86's report. Two squid and a lost jig rig. Wet and cold. Not a stellar night. Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - WashingtonSquid - 12-12-2011 5lbs last night in Seattle Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - amayuram - 12-12-2011 What pier were you at WAsquid? Pier 86? Seacrest? Did you throw a party and all the squid went there? Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - Squidman1 - 12-12-2011 For WAsquid's night.... I was fishing at the same pier with him last night and i only got 1.7 pounds himself 5 pounds idk how he does it Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - WashingtonSquid - 13-12-2011 Lots of learning! If you can learn one thing each time you make a trip fishing..... Its not too long until you start to put the big picture together. It has taken me years of trial and error! From the speed and distance that you jig, to the wieght of your jigs, to the action of your rod, and jig color... It all plays a HUGE part in your success. For example, Im normally with another guy that only gets half as many as I do, every night. I try to help him but he doesnt listen and continues doing his own thing. Its all dependant if you can successfully observe how successfull squidders are getting it done! Sometimes it takes a COMPLETE revamp of how you think of squidding. I learned that if there are people catching squid and Im not.... Its not the squid that are doing something wrong, it me! One last rule, you cant catch squid if you are not fishing for squid. Even when its slow, I still catch... Its all about putting your time in and not getting too flustered! Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - amayuram - 14-12-2011 Hit the early tide change this evening at the aquarium pier. Squid were indifferent - they seemed to be around but not hitting too often. Left after two hours. Stopped by pier 69 - the squid didn't seem to be hitting there either. Anybody know how Shilshole has been? Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - Squidman1 - 15-12-2011 I went to shilshole last night from after fishing at 69. Fished 69 from sundown till about 7 then hit shilshole from 730 to 915 very slow. I only got 10 and my buddy got 2. Guys at shilshole said on monday it was good fishing. Pesky seal/otters around. Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - WashingtonSquid - 15-12-2011 Mekim and squid man... I would stick with ONE place instead of trying to chase em! Esp. if you guys have good reports coming from that area in recent days. Rule #1 of fishing: Never leave fish to find fish. Sometimes they are just making their rounds in the bay, but they will be back. Most "hot" squid bites dont last much longer than an hour, so its kind of a luck/effort game. If you keep moving around, the odds are you are wasting time by not fishing. Along with missing the good bites at the peers you both are leaving. Each time I fish, Im committed! I go to one spot and fish it all night. 99% of the time I do just fine, over 3-5 lbs a night, if I just stay in one spot and keep fishing for squid not bottom fish. Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - amayuram - 15-12-2011 Good point, WASquid. I'm just looking for new spots to consider if access to the aquarium pier and waterfront park gets kind of iffy. Security and a warden have been hasselling some of the squid fishers down there. And the aquarium people haven't been too friendly at times too. Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - Squidman1 - 15-12-2011 Mekim theres piers all over the place in seattle.... Theres 69,54, seacrest, aquarium, edmonds, kingston, des moines, redondo, dash point, shilshole (south and north) docks have produced squid for everybody. But the seattle has produced more jumbos and the school size of them. Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - WashingtonSquid - 15-12-2011 I try to connect the dots... Fishing is NOT rocket science! Puget Sound, WA (2011 Season) - amayuram - 15-12-2011 It's alchemy, I tell you...alchemy. Just kidding. Yeah, WASquid. Being there when it happens is part of the consistency of fishing one place on a regular basis. |
