Peel Island, QLD - fish'n'chippy - 06-10-2009 the weather gods smiled on morton bay this morning <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> took a run over to peel, would have been worth the trip even if there weren't any squid but there were..... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> stopped at 10, but could have had heaps more it's always good fun watching 8 or 9 squid chasing the jig it was like shooting fish in a barrel the largest is 300mm tube length and came on a baited jag i'll be keeping a close eye on the weather to go again <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> fish'n'chippy Peel Island, QLD - Dr Zoidberg - 06-10-2009 Nice work mate. Zoidberg ( Joel )[/quote] nice work chippy , who's coming to peel....lol.. they leave the landbased areas around this time of year cause of the dirty water , so peel is where it's at 'eh.....CHARGE!!!!!....lol mug Peel Island, QLD - fish'n'chippy - 06-10-2009 i prefer my seafood fresh (not from the freezer) so i have no problem in stopping when i have enough for myself and family peel is definately worth the trip at the moment will keep you guys posted when i go again p.s. mojiko jigs were what they wanted (blue & green) wouldn't touch yamys, didn't try the shrimphunters (didn't need to) fish'n'chippy Peel Island, QLD - fish'n'chippy - 11-10-2009 the weather gods weren't as kind at peel today between the wind, rain and overcast conditions it was nearly impossible to see the squid i had a case of the dropsies, went 2 from 7 mikeyb did much better with 6 (i think) well, there's always next time mickyb - fish'n'chippy - 11-10-2009 ha..ha i thought about yesterday, but thats as far as i got man, i was cuddled up in bed i've put in well over 1000 hrs on the bay, seen the best and the worst it has to offer (sometimes with a snorkel and goggles) good effort for you guys for going fish'n'chippy Peel Island, QLD - ru 12 mug - 12-10-2009 some times it pays to go out and ruff it and some times not. 1000 hours....I can relate to that as I've been fishing the bay for about 18 years now and come to think of it...not much has changed fish wise , just more idiots on the water. it maybe why dazza calls his boat "the idiot magnet"....lol. mug Peel Island, QLD - fish'n'chippy - 12-10-2009 so true i've fished pretty much all up and down the qld coast with the exception of the outer reef at lizard island, moreton bay is my pick of fishing locations on the coast the only way to avoid the idiots is to be out either at night or at sparrow's hence the reason for targeting squid fish'n'chippy lizard island FNQ Peel Island, QLD - ru 12 mug - 13-10-2009 chippy I've fished from the T line which is next door to the swains right up to chinaman which is north/east of whitsunday Island , so at a rough guess thats about 200 miles of reefs loaded with fish or use to be lol we use to stay out for 2-3 weeks at a time and just hop from reef to reef untill we filled the freezer. what a life mug Peel Island, QLD - fish'n'chippy - 13-10-2009 lifestyles of the POOR & PITIFULL ha..ha..ha.. i've done gold coast to cardwell and cairns to lizard there's nothing like time spent at sea chippy Peel Island, QLD - ru 12 mug - Peel Island, QLD - ru 12 mug - 17-10-2009 try this cut the tube open and lay out flat. score the inside of the tube to form diamond shape cuts and not too big...you need the outer skin intact to help curl the portions. cut into rectangles of about 70mm by 40mm. then crumb or marinate..or add them to the seafood marinara as I do at the last minute.....wickked it helps if you have a good supply of prawns and fish when it comes to cooking a good seafood marinara with a garlic and cream sauce...yum yum droooooolll. mug Peel Island, QLD - fish'n'chippy - 17-10-2009 gotta love fried breadcrumbs and beer <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ha...ha..
