I was test bedded a few of my Yamashita jigs down at Many boat harbour yesterday as I'm a newbie to squid jigging. I wasn't happy with the 3.0 size balance and sink rate for local conditions (its the only one of that size I have), so got to work with the file and then tested it in my fish tank. All good so far but - Unfortunately I clipped the squid jig
"cloth" with the file.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix my mistake and extend the life of the cloth? I don't want the cloth to go kakked like some of my earlier cheapie lures did.
I'msa thinking that a bit of Araldite mixed and a few dabbes on the damaged section will do the trick?
Its a fairly new jig.

Yeh that's what I did to one of my older cheapie ones. Just ripped the cloth off from tail through to eyes. There is a geen/yellow glow type plastic underneath the cloth on that one (have not a clue what brand it was).

I had
six jigs set aside to buy; but as always when I went to pick em up I ended coming away with

more jigs catch more fishermen hahahahahaha
I carry about a dozen with me but only use 2 of them...orange in daytime and pinkish at night....works fine for me.

Yeh Paul, it's the same with lure fishing hard body and plastics.
It peeved me off when I was down at Manly last time and some big mother fish with teeth at the boat ramp decided my jig was better than real food - a quick pull, snip and the jig was gawwn. If that wasn't humbling enough I snagged a jig and couldn't get it loose, so two jigs in one night. Man as a newbie I was running out to good gun ammo fast!! Hence why I rekken a reasonable stock is paramount to any session.
I rekken what I have now is a reasonable baseline - ten or so of various size,typrd and weights.

I have found that my jig with the best catch rate (Little orange Yo-Zuri) has had it's cloth torn to shreds by the Squid!
I haven't repaired it, as it seems to still be doing a good job, but curious to know what others do. I thought maybe the fact it doesn't look like it came of a production line anymore might make it more realistic, rather than less.
BTW - It is probably my best catch rate because it was my first one and worked really well, so tends to be the one I persevere with the most!

dont worry about the cloth being torn to bits , you can stick it back on where you can with supa glu or just leave it to the squid...they dont mind either way.

dont worry about it.
the squid will tear it anyway, good way to tell a good squid fisherman is to look at all the bites in his squid jigs....
there beaks cut the s*** out of jigs.
i rcon it could help as it will create a injured look.
