Ian, i use the double uni knot which i dont have any problem's with but isn't a double grinner knot the same

knot but another name for it.
Yeah fishnhook , i m pretty sure its the same knot, have you tried tying it a t night time ????

What i,m after is the best and easiest knot to tie at night.

as that when most of my squid is done dawn and dusk
The double uni knot is a easy knot to do the best thing to do is use a head lamp when

you have to tie knots at night.

Yes M8 sorry i didnt go into detail.......i did use a head lamp .......and i was in probably 20 to 30 k winds from the north at 5.00am in the morning in the dark trying to meld high quality squid braid to 100 % fluro leader for maximum stretch using a new knot shown to me......that didnt work

Second cast .ping jig gone...........nudge nudge.

just asking if theres a quick knot, in crap condiions to tie to get the jig back in the water when the actions hot???

cheers ian.

Me in the middle.

Ian,try the surgeon's knot i think that would be the easiest knot to try and tie

in bad condition's.
I leave home with an FG knot! But could never do that on the pier in winds , it's harde enough on the kitchen table but great knot. The guys from Yamashita shows 'us' how to di it at one of the squid nights. I learnt off you tube pausing at every step. I typically use a surgeons knot on the pier it's fast fought only down side it does catch during casting ever so slightly in the small runners of my squid rod.
Hey Ian,

I generally use the improved albright knot. Simple, strong and even pressure along your leader helping to avoid cutting into the mono. I have never, ever had a bust off from this knot. Double uni is ok too but I find it more involved than the improved Albright.

Cheers,

nala
Here is the Adventure Bound guys showing it tied.

cheers,

nala
nala same here. easy at the pier also
Thanks for the replys , i,ve gone back to the double uni , but will give the albright a go for a while

the 5 turn surgeons is ok but not on a windy night.[Image: xyxthumbs.gif]
Why dont you try the slim beauty. It is just as slim as an albright but the mono tag faces towards the reel on the cast so it shoots through the guides much better. It is a little more involving to ty but with some practice you can ty it very quickly. Good luck.
FG knot is the go
The FG looks the go, I will have to try.

Also how long leader is everyone using?

Mark
Ive gone back to the doulbe uni knot just seems to work for me
Just a tip on windy days always carry some split shot and crimp it on the braid end top stop it floating around in the strong winds when tying a knot

works very well
I will usually tie the FG as it goes easy on those guides. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

After a couple practices, its quite easy.
I don't use braid when chasing squid but for other types of fishing I use the Slim Beauty knot, I prefer it over the Albright.
Albrights good, Slim Beautys the best but more complex.
At night and in windy conditions ?

Just tie your braid straight on to your jig, a friend of mine won a Gancraft/Gladiator last month,,she was not to organised that day and just went with straight thru braid and this was the middle of the day.

Fluros so the squid can't see the line,,its not going to be so much of an issue and night and no leader knot is worth bothering about on dark and windy nights,,
