Hi Fellow Squid Fishermen, Im looking into getting into eging and looking for a reel with double handles ive been looking on ebay and found a shimano sedona with double handle for $95 which in my opinion is great BUT its a 3000 size reel and ive heard that 1000-2500 is best. my max is $110 for the reel

Any Help Will Be Great!!

Thanks Alex
Gee whiz, isn't anyone here anymore? I'm also to blame but if you are still looking for an answer, albeit 4 months late, here it is. Generally, a 2500 size reel is the one that most end up with. Reason is that size balances well with the egi rods which are 7' - 9'. Trouble is that manufacturers have their own sizing standard and taking the 2 Jap giants, Daiwa and Shimano, their respective reels aren't the same size in 2500. Shimano tends to be a little smaller so your Sedona 3000 will be about the size of a Daiwa 2000 so it'll be fine. imo anything below 2000 size is too small for the Japanese style of squid jigging.Â
